Mise en Scene (Stranger Things)

 What decade is stranger things set in? Stranger things is set in the late 1980's. Which is around the neon era, with all of the classic cars and buildings, with the style of their outfits this can become very believable. They make no mistakes and are always right with the props they use. The main group always travel around on bikes, which is common from the 1980s. The cars that they use are always of the era, and the stereotypical popular vehicles from the 80's. The popularity of arcades in the film also is reminiscent of the 80's with the Neo art style being very prominent. The show is a horror/thriller genre, which is perfectly communicated by the tense dark feeling of the show, and the antagonists used are also very disturbing in their movement and appearance. The genre of the film is also fitting with the era that the show was set in, with the rise of horror style thriller films at the time.  Copyright - Copyright is the law which means that someone has rights to own their own property, and if anybody uses it without permissions or having bought rights to it, they can be punished for that, the legal rights to digital content. Freedom of Gaining information - having the rights to decide what happens to personal information and how it's used. Intellectual Property - Digital property and mental creations. Libel - False statements which can damage somebody's reputation. Slander - Online trolling, hurtful words and comment online. Copyright - when someone steals or takes someones legal property. For example, "Blurred Lines" was copyrighted as it has a very similar backing track to the song "got to give it up" by Marvin Gaye. Freedom Of Information act was passed on the 30th November 2000.  Compare Disney (conglomerate) and Working Title Films (independent)-  Working Title has a much smaller movie gallery, with just over 100 films, Whereas Disney has made over 139 films, which is a lot more than Working Title Working Titles productions have grossed over $7.5 Billion on movies world wide, and Disney have produced a much higher gross of $67.41 Billion. Disney Produces many film series and types, consisting of PIXAR, Marvel, ESPN, Star Wars,20th Century Fox, ABC News, BlueSky Studios and many other popular film franchises. Working Title films are all independent, they can be series films but they are not part of a huge corporation, many being individual films with no sequels, and a lot of individual series films such as Johnny English, which grossed around $160,000,000 per film (3 films). Conglomerate -  a thing consisting of a number of different and distinct parts or items that are grouped together. A corporation Made up of several independent businesses. smaller companies involved support the widespread goals and objectives of the parent company involved. Example - Fox, (Sky TV) Independent  Company -  a company that is not publicly traded on the stock market and is generally owned by a very small group of individuals. Free to design and do whatever they want. Joint venture - When one media company works with another on a project that is mutually beneficial. Distribution - How a branch reaches an audience and market/promotion.
